Aargh, of course! I have one of those nifty slide-rule style metric
converters, which I fell in love with in an engineering supply house,
very nicely made, which said that one can make any type of conversion,
with any of the various quantities. I should have known though, coming
from this store, only an engineer can properly work it (and he does). It
has given me nothing but grief, as the conversion explanation on the
slider scale is in "Engineerese" - I will quote the slider directions to
give you the idea: "The basic reference scales are logarithmic and
identical. Any value smaller or larger than 1 to 10 on the left half or
10 to 100 on the right half may be represented by mentally setting these
scales to read any other range of one hundred, i.e. 0.1 to 1.0 to 100.0"
etc....at that point, I'm guessing.
The instruction book (notice I didn't say booklet) is worse. I can't
throw it away, as it is of the same quality as those slide rulers of
old, but I wish I could. Besides, my husband would know I've thrown in
the towel. So this thing is with me for life, just so I can impress him
- though he smiles whenever I whip it out (for good reason).
As to the corrected amount, even more stunning.
