Well, Annette, you've come to the right place. The folks on this list love to
gush about what's in bloom..... and so if we can follow two simple rules, this
could be useful information indeed:

1. Always mention your city, state and zone
2. Be specific when gushing... date/hybridizer would be wonderful, but I know
not everyone has that information at their fingertips (we would if it were all
on an electronic database, she says stoking that fire again), but if we could
be specific about type, color, foliage appearance, etc - that would surely
make this a good resource.

In fact, if there was someone exquisitely organized out there, we could create
lists like we do on the daylily forum. It works like this: A person chooses
a hybridizer and announces that they will collect information on favorite
irises that others grow that have originated from that hybridizer.

We end up with a list of cultivars and comments from around the world... and
by reading zone information, you can get a pretty good idea what does well
where.

Of course.... you notice I did not in any way volunteer to administer such a
plan.

But we COULD be a source for useful information here on cultivars and where
they thrive since (I know this is a shock), not every iris thrives in every
garden.
