The following info was taken from region 14's bulletin for their auction
last fall. Region 14 purchased $1000 worth of new introductions from many of
region 14's hybridizers with commercial gardens and from a couple of 'out of
region' hybridizers. All of the hybridizers were thanked for their
generosity with duplicates and extras. The rhizomes were divide into three
categories: individually auctioned (mostly '96s and '97s), $5 (mostly
'95's), and $2 (mostly '94s and older). Sacramento Iris Society donated
their surplus from their sale which was held on the previous weekend. Other
growers in the region made generous donations along with other AIS members.

I think the last was answered above. We have several commerical gardens in
our region so we are very fortunate. I don't know how many you have in your
region but I would say you have to offer something. Most, I would think,
would give you exceptional bargains and extras. The bulletin said there were
33 bidders that purchased $3800 worth of rhizomes. As I said, $1000 was
allocated for purchasing the latest introductions. That has to be budgeted.

If you would like any more info, e-mail me privately. I really don't know
much more than already stated and it came directly from our bulletin. I
could probably put you in touch with the person who organized the auction
and picnic if you would like.
