Ian,
With the spurias that are successful for you, are you providing alkaline soil
for them?
Are you amending a bed or special area for irises native to alkaline soil
areas?
I wonder if that is feasible in an area that has acid soils with a relatively
low pH. It seems nearly impossible to maintain a neutral pH. There are some
indicator plants that die here no matter what you do for them.
