Although the eloquent Kathyguest has answered the question directly I direct you
to the Canadian Iris Society website. Once there at the main page there is a link
to another area of the website titled "Glossary of Iris terms". Contents are self
evident... Check it out.
This is a detailed compendium of iris terms, definitions, and includes a list of
commonly used iris abbreviations. It was originally written by Bill Maryott of
California with a number of revisions/additions made by myself.
