All the acronyms designated as subject headings for Iris-l postings are
defined on Tom Little's website at http://www.rt66.com/~telp/il_about.htm
As for US cities out-populating Australia, no US city within its municipal
boundaries has anywhere near 18 million people. New York has around 8
million. The officially recognzed New York metropolitan area does have over
19.5 million people. Curiously, I am not aware that even one of them is an
(active) member of this List. The second most populous US metropolitan area
is LA with 15 million people. On a percentage basis, I believe Australia is
more highly urbaniized that the US.
