I guess I've just read far too many Gary Larson Cow cartoons!
Traditionally, if cows are having difficulty calving they do it on a
cold, wet, and moonless night. We always say on such nights "Bad night
for a calving".
I'm 'cowless' these days but still get a lump in my throat when I see a
Fresian cow. Irises are so much easier to care for :))
