Your suggestion merits serious consideration. I think we need input from
someone with more extensive botanical knowledge to put this figure (of 32%
of species in danger of extinction) in persective. Are these endangered
irids species of horticultural interest, or are they obscure forms that no
one has paid much attention to? If they are species of horticultural
interest, are they endangered because of general habitat loss or is
collection from the wild for the purposes of cultivation a contributing
factor?
