OT: Cape Cod Weeder-Dumb question of the month

For eons I have been reading about the wonders of a Cape Cod Weeder and
finally succumbed to buying one.
Now my question is - How do I use it? So far it's logic has escaped me.
I am wondering if it isn't a cruel hoax perpetuated by those doughty New
Englanders who actually use regular tools.
Can someone please put me out of my misery?
