This is a good example of the effect
of climate. =
SATAN'S MISTRESS was bred in
southern New Mexico, where "black"
iris tend to be deep ruby, deep brown,
deep blue, or deep purple. In the
hybridizer's garden, it was redder =
than DUSKY DANCER.
It remains one of my own favorites,
because it is such a sunfast red.
Most red TBs quickly fade to blah....
