Donald,
The 1989 AIS Checklist contains the following entry;
SIR JEFF (K. Tutin, R. 1985) TB, 36", LM. S. butterscotch; F. light brown
at top, shading to very dark brown at the edge, bright blue spot at end of
bronze beard, lightly ruffled. Autumn Leaves X Conversation Piece.
This cultivar was not introduced before 1990; don't know if it has been
formally introduced since. The home address of the hybridizer, Katherine
Tutin, is given as Stanton, Nebraska.
If you wish to take a step up in the peerage, there is also LORD JEFF (K.
Waite, 81) TB, 37", ML. Ruffled dark violet self. HM (83), AM (88).
I know not for whom SIR JEFF is named, but LORD JEFF honors Lord Jeffrey
Amherst, last Commander-in-Chief of the British Army in North America
during the French and Indian War.
