Jeff,
Thanks for this info. Lady Jane, the right hand, is passing my interest in
irises on
to her daughter (she's not about to soil her own hands). She came back
from visiting
the grandchild on Easter with this request. She described it as dark
purple and not
really tall, so maybe it got zapped a bit by the late freeze and is LORD
JEFF. I will
print your info and get it to her for transmission to the daughter who can
check with
the doting grandmother on the son-in-law side and perhaps they can figure
out which they
have. Lady Jane thinks the grandmother has been active in AIS for a number
of years,
so I guess it's possible she may have enough contacts to acquire a
registered, but not
yet introduced cultivar from the hybridizer. In any case, I have been
marked to receive
this bit of royalty whether I want it or not. And hey, I may be plebeian,
but if royalty can
take, I'm game. Frankly though, it sounds as if they have mixed up the
cultivars somewhere
along the line.
Thanks a lot.
Donald Eaves
P.S. I think if Lady Jane and up the peerage, Sir Jeff is likely to get
the promotion to Lord Jeff.
There is just a tad bit of competition from the distaff side of Jeff's
family unit.
