Before my irises begin to put up > bloom stalks does anyone have an

Hi Dennis,
I have had this problem on occasion. I just filled the bare spots
between the iris clumps with potted plants. It made the area too crowded
for the kittens to get in there. I also used landscape rocks.
When my dog was a puppy, the yard we had was fenced in with chain link.
In the early spring he could see the other dogs in the neighbors yards.
they would meet at the fence to "visit". Our yard was going to be on
tour that spring, so we didn't want him going through the flower beds.
I drove stakes every two feet on the outside of the beds. Then I took
string and wove it back and forth through the fence to the stakes.
It looked like a big spider web! He didn't try but a couple times to
go through it to the fence. I looked out one day and saw him jumping
on his hind legs (like a kangaroo) all the way down the lenghth of the
fence (to see the neighbors dog) It was so funny! We removed the string
right before the tour. He didn't venture into the beds for most of the
summer. I guess he thought the string would still be there.
I've also used flacked moth balls to keep wild critters out of my beds.
It really works, if you don't mind the smell.
