CULT: post freeze bloom report

Every spring, there is always one that manages to make stalks and open
blooms before I see it, even though I'm out walking and weeding and
staring at all of them for weeks before any buds are visible. For Mark
Cook's birthday, CUMQUAT (sp?) opened three blooms on one stalk. It's
first time to bloom for me in 3 years (maybe it knew it was on death
row). It's had some problems with rot, so maybe the dose of alfalfa I
gave everybody last year fixed it.

Also, in special honor of Mark's birthday, LITTLE SHOWOFF opened its
first bloom here. Mark generously sent me a bunch of rhizomes of this
'guaranteed' freeze survivor, and all but the one in a pot on my
windowsill at work where it spent the winter are full of buds.

Thank you Mark and happy birthday!

and I did creak down on my knees to smell SHOWOFF's wonderful fragrance!
