My observation of this kind of phenomena is what
got me started on this list. I have about ten
different color iris in my yard and only about 5
different colors would be in any one year's
bloom. The iris had been there for 5 or 6 years.
It seemed that they were alternating bloom every
other year. From the good people here I got the
explanation that crowding was causing stress and
the stress was reducing the blooming to less than
every year so that some bloomed one year and some
another. From your observation and mine we may
have a very good explanation of the "Revision"
to white or purple or cream color. Wait until
next year and see what color the iris "revert"
to.
