And Now, here are my 2 cents. Phil Williams got his Thornbird plants from
Monty and has been growing it a long time. I know from judging iris at
shows & in gardens, different soils, etc. can effect color of plants. Also
weather can effect the development of horns, spoons, etc. Phil feels if he
sells a plant, the buyer will expect it to look like pictures published. If
it hasn't looked like these pictures everywhere it has been observed, it
must be noted.
We saw a beautiful clump of THORNBIRD in Tom Burseen's garden Saturday.
Even Ron Mullin admitted it looked better than he had ever seen it. But
that's how it grows for me here.
And that's part of what keeps iris people talking. (to each other, I hope!)
