Contrary to what others may say to lambast this girl for falling over,
from reports on the list last year, I'd say she rarely falls in the
freeze/thaw belt in the middle of the country. She can't get that tall
and sappy : ) She looks pretty poorly here this year, and may not get
any blooms open at all.
But then the whole place looks like a dancing maniac with a weedwhacker
led a small tour of giant locusts through the iris/weed beds. Lots of
stalks starting to appear, in spite of it all - a bit of color showing
on the one remaining stalk of HELLO DARKNESS and one really pretty,
vigorous BB that was a gift from Mary Rogers in Chattanooga at one of
our club meetings a couple of years ago is open - clear medium blue with
a redder, darker blotch on the upper part of the falls. And HONEY
GLAZED (IB) and WILLOW WARE (IB?) aren't far behind. Probably stunted a
bit, but pretty.
LITTLE SHOWOFF (or is that LITTLE KUDZU?) is blooming like mad, as
advertised. Lloyd do you have any more grandchildren that are this
happy after warm winter, 10o F freeze, golfball sized hail, and flood (7
inches of rain in 3 days)?
Linda Mann east Tennessee USA
definitely expecting a 3 month drought with temps near 110 to cap the
year. Or maybe an asteroid...or I guess we could still work in an early
May frost....
