ATROVIOLACEA

	1. This morning the first I. atroviolacea opened.  Not only the 
> first this year, but the first ever for us.  We've never had an iris 
> that bloomed in April before, ever!  Thanks especially to Mark Cook

> even for this iris, but everything is ahead of schedule this spring.

     I am glad that this Iris is blooming for you.  It is always an
extremely early bloomer.  Since it likes cold winters, I think it will do
great in Iowa.  Keep me posted on how it does.  I would expect it to do
better in Iowa than it did in Kentucky.
