Sounds like you have a beekeeper within a few miles of your place, Chad. 

Swarms are not captured as often as any beekeeper would like to admit and they will try to set up a colony in a tree as they used to years ago. 

Varoa and tracheal mite numbers have fallen only in those places where the honeybee no longer exists in the wild, and only because there are no more bees left to prey upon. 

Varoa mites and tracheal mites are both on the upswing even in colonies that are cared for and a swarm would not be likely to last more than a year on its own.
