I've been wondering, which comes first, the death of the iris for whatever reason and then the rot. Does the rot set in after the iris is already dead or dying from some other cause? The mother rhizomes do die naturally and they are reassorbed(?) by some process right?
Or does the rot itself kill the iris then feed on it?
I wonder if it is the predator or just a scavanger...mmm..too much thought for an nice Sunday morning but I have often wondered.
BTW Mr. Harrison, I loved your pod setting technique. I think I'll go set a pod right now and read the paper!
