AIS:Region 22 Annual Meeting

Though I don't live there, I have been attending many of the
Region 22 Annual Meetings in August since sometime the 1970s. I
cannot count them, but they only get better as the years go by.

This one, August 2 and 3, was hosted by the White County Iris
Society in Searcy, fifty miles northeast of Little Rock. 65 to 70 from
TX, AR, OK, and MS attended the event. Jim and Jean Morris
from the St. Louis area were JT school instructors and banquet
speakers. You'll never meet two more enthusiastic or
knowledgeable irisarians Jim also helped with the auction when
Hooker Nichols almost pooped out. M. D. Faith, the RVP, presided
over the other events. He and his lovely wife June are really 'gung-
ho' irises and AIS. They are an inspiration with their energy and
well-organized plans. Robert Treadway is the regions' workhorse
and attends to every detail.

Everyone had a blast visiting, talking irises. polishing up on their
judging skills, and left with at least two door prizes and renewed
enthusiasm for our favorite flower. Nearly $4,000 was added to the
Region's treasury from silent and live auctions.

There should be an AIS Regional coming to your area soon.
Go, if you can. It will revitalize you even in the heat and humidty.
A better B-12 shot you cannot find!

Thanks, Region 22, I had a great time.
