Re: CULT: SPEC: Candy Lilies in pots

Mark:
Have been growing Candy Lilies in pots for a couple of years. Of
course this is NJ and is quite different from where you are. However,
they seem to love the pots, grow into a nice clump, and flower well.
I grow them from seed, and do not thin. I like the clump look and
they don't mind being squeezed into a tight pot. I water well, and
they like it moister than iris.
The pots go into the garage for the winter, where it is cold but not
freezing. Sometimes I forget them outside and they freeze up; they do
not seem to mind this abuse. They do NOT like being brought indoors
in the fall. Another curious thing: the flowers are always a shade of
pink; the seeds came from the ones in the garden, but they are always
orange/red/yellow, never pink.
