It is my understanding that soft rot may be both bacterial and fungal. Garlic
is apparently an antibiotic and antifungal agent. Please consider reading my
most recent post: Mosquito, grasshopper, deer, etc., deterrents. Here is the

deterrent a few days prior to flowering as not to deter the bee pollination
process. Please read Len's follow up post entitled, Mosquito, grasshopper
etc....
