Hi Margie-
What a great article!!! Thanks so much!. Two yrs. ago I had a rot
problem/not growing, in some iris; read about the Japanese coming up with the
garlic drench. I just happened to have GOBS of garlic (grown by large
ranchers here). The directions were to chop 1 C. of garlic to 1 Qt. of
water.
It's a long story, but I ended up throwing the garlic in the blender &
fill to top with water...had one heck of a mess all over the kitchen! Then I
called my friend Alice & invited her up for garlic milkshakes. By the time I
was done I had three 5Gal buckets full of the slury. I was told to "strain
it"....decided I wouldn't live that long....<g>
Anyway, carefully poured some on each iris...the next day they were
smilin' up at me - and got rid of the rot. So....garlic DOES work!
Conclusion: for every Iris planted, one should also plant one garlic
clove.....<sigh>
Len...in the OR High Desert where the `Furnace' is now on high.
