I was interested in this picture, it reminded me of the Siberian Iris
that grow in the tidal mud flats near Anchorage, Alaska. That area is
part of Cook Inlet and would have a lot of salt water plus, an over
abundance of water every tide. In the Portage Flats area which is at
the lower end of Turnagain Arm, again part of Cook Inlet, Lupine grow in
the tidal area again with lot of salt water. I've personally found
Siberian iris in other areas of that region. One must be very careful
though as this area has mud and sand that is worse then quick sand, it
has taken the lives of several people over the years. I currently have
one of the Siberians that I shipped from Anchorage when I moved to
Montana in 93 and although it is not as vigorous as before, it still
does bloom for me and makes me feel at home.
