After being stabled at the Burleson Empire for only one year Rosalie Figge
(McKnew 1991) went from the paddock into the starting gate. The entrant was
acquired in 2001 from the North Mississippi Lakes Iris Society Auction on the
advice of world famous iris breeder Walter Moores.
Moores' advice coupled with the Old South Iris Society's "narrow band rebloom
compilation" virtually guaranteed ownership of a successful rebloom candidate
in Rosalie Figge. When the present owner was asked why he put his faith in
this particular plant he stated his belief there existed no substitute for
shared knowledge and expertise over a wide range of growing conditions when
addressing reliable rebloom issues.
Smilin' cause these stalks are gonna' carry me a month closer to my objective
of havein' an iris bloom each month from frost til frost.
