RE: CULT: PBF ... sort of

Laurie,
Last night was our Societies membership iris give away and we noticed that
Tokatee Falls had PBF all the way up the fan. The fan was about 6" long and
so dark that the name written on there with a black marker almost
disappeared.

Subject: [iris-talk] CULT: PBF ... sort of

Hey Folks,

In the ongoing effort to include as many PBF irises as possible in my
list of PBF cultivars, I checked all of this year's acquisitions when
they arrived. PBF is so much easier for one as nearsighted as I to see
when the rzs are out of the ground and can be easily lifted to within 2"
of one's face. ;-) Having looked so closely at so many rzs, I am left a
bit bewildered by a few cvs that exhibited no antho coloring on the
leaves but DID exhibit a narrow ring of red-purple right at the juncture
of rz and fan. Is this a very slight expression of PBF or a PBF
precursor of some sort? Should I include these "ringed" cvs in my PBF
list?

Please don't ask me which cvs exhibited the rings. I was in such a hurry
as I unpacked boxes and jotted notes, I just wrote down the names of
every rz that showed me any sort of antho coloring without designating
the degree of same.

I will appreciate any insights,

Laurie
