REF: finding posts by date or author, etc.

When one first comes to the Iris-talk (Mallorn) website there are a list a
months.  After clicking on the month a page opens near the top of which is a
list of three items that looks like this:

        * Author Index
        * Date Index
        * Subject Index

The page opens in the "Thread Index" section.  (One will note the current
Index showing is not in the list of three choices displayed)  The items on the
page are more-or-less arranged by the topic indicated in the "subject" line of
the post.

To access the pages organized by *Date* of the post, click or double click on
the line "* Date Index."  The screen clears and the items reappear in order
posted, the most recent at the top of the list.  If one wishes to see those
posts made on the second of January one does the following:

When the original page displaying a list of months appears, double click on
"January 2003."
When the January page appears it will be in "Thread Index" form.  Double click
on "Date Index," then when the page reappears, scroll down, down, down until
one finds the dates close to January 2.  The scrolling can be fine-tuned by
clicking with the mouse on the up or down arrow at the top and bottom at the
right-hand edge of the window.  When the entries for January 2 are in the
window find the one or ones wished to be read and click or double click on its
title.  The post opens.

To return to the current month simply click repeatedly on "Back" with the
left-pointing arrow near the upper left of the screen until the original page
appears OR, more simply, go back to "Favorites" and go down the drop-down list
to where one has stashed "Iris-talk archives" and click on that.  One returns
to the opening page much more quickly this way.
