CULT: Parts of the iris rhizome

> When I speak of the front of the rhizome,
>I mean the part that contains the toe,

Hmm. I'm still confused, and this confusion is leading me to prepare to
take pics of my rzs and create a "parts of the rhizome" diagram much as I
did a "parts of the iris flower" for my website. So, let's see if I can
get this straight. Please, anyone and everyone, feel free to correct me
if I am misunderstanding the terminology.

TOP - portion of rhizome traditionally planted parallel to and level with
the soil surface - directly opposite the bottom from which the roots grow

BOTTOM - underside of rhizome from which the roots grow downward

BACK - portion of rhizome from which the primary fan of leaves grows -
also referred to as the HEEL

HEEL - same as BACK

FRONT - end of rhizome farthest from the BACK

TOE - same as FRONT

INCREASES - small rhizomes, each with its own fan of leaves, growing from
the sides of the original rhizome

TOES (not to be confused with TOE) - the beginning stages of INCREASES
that have not yet grown enough to sprout leaves

What have I left out/gotten wrong?
