I am contemplating digging up all iris rhizomes from a very large (80 ft x 10 ft) very old iris bed that has been neglected for the past 3 or so years. Will the rhizomes "keep" like other bulbs if I save them in a cool dry place and plant in the spring, or must I replant the rhizomes I can save immediately? I strongly suspect that I have insect trouble and the bed itself needs to be moved to a different location. Fully half the bed didn't bloom this year so I am considering ditching those rhizomes and thinning out the rest that did bloom. Any advice/help from the group is greatly appreciated. Sorry for the length of the message. Alana
