This year, I tried to get all seedlings that were big enough lined out
in the garden by the end of TB bloom season. I can't remember when I
started - as soon as I thought they were big enough to survive. Those
that went in the ground really early are huge compared to the later
ones. It's been wet enough this summer that I also planted some
seedlings later in the season. They have just sat there - alive & well,
but virtually no growth.

Betty, are you stratifying them in the fridge or in pots outdoors or ??

This year, I'm planning on doing some of both - fridge for 3 months (due
out in Oct/Nov) for the crosses I really want to know about as soon as
possible, outdoors in pots or paks (depending on the number of seeds)
for others. After they've had 3 months of outdoor chill (around late
January), I will bring them indoors to the sun porch. That way, I won't
have quite as many seedlings to handle all at once.

I'd also like to bring in some of the pots & paks of seeds that had low
germination last year, assuming some of those will have a lot of 2nd
year germination, but I'm not sure how long they need to be left out for
that second round of chilling.

Anybody care to guess?

I will probably bring them indoors in late December, just because that
will be between the other two batches.
