RE:CULT potting new arrivals

Donald I'm in an area closer to you than Sandra--KS. I also pot my iris as
they arrive and wait till Sept. to plant. I just use garden soil, no
additives, just dirt. My garden has some clay but it's mostly pretty good
dirt. When the weather cools off I dig a hole and plant the iris trying not
to disturb the rootball. In the 5 years or so doing this, very seldom do I
lose a new iris or get a sunburn !! If I have a "slow-grower" it will stay
in it's pot over the winter. Heat & dry weather no longer rule.

This summer has been different--record lows and plenty of rain. Iris could
have been planted normally this year.
