Only a week with temps above 90? Wow! And cool nights all
summer. <<<
How about no days above 90? And cool/cold nights all summer..oh
yeah, rain all the time here. :-( Who can plant here unless
you are a duck or a child who yearns to play in the mud?
In July we had 28 days of rain and the 3 days it didn't rain,
the humidity was unreal.

You guys must like to pot which is my unfavorite gardening thing
to do. My bearded irises stay on the porch or garage floor until
I plant them....hopefully by Aug. 1st. This year, I still have
some laying around with markers next to them...all ready to go
in the ground which is a swamp this week and raining again...or
still. It is a bloody wonder that bearded irises survive and
bloom here.
In late October, we have a lottery to guess when the snow will
fly , having had hard freezes since the first week in Sept,
usually. like Sandra, we have had freezing temps nearly every
month this year but summer in the mountains can't be beat if the
river doesn't rise too much... :-)

soil, no additives, just dirt. <<<
Whoever said this (I kept the quote but lost the post...Judy
from Kansas???) - is my type of gardener. I refuse to fuss and
plant the same rhizome twice when they do well and bloom my
old-fashioned way - in the ground.
