Mike in Myrtle Beach:  Welcome to the iris list!  Don't worry about "dumb"
questions.    There really are no such things.  The only "dumb" is to have a
question and not ask it.   All of us have been there, and have been the
recipients of good information when we asked.  In fact, I think it's fair to
say that all the members of the list ask questions from time to time, too, no
matter how long we've been growing iris.   There are always new things to
learn for everyone.   The proper answer to the question you're asking probably
has to come from somebody down your way, though, because people in that area
will know the conditions and most likely have had some experience with the
kind of pests affecting your iris.  I'll leave that to them.  Meanwhile, again
a welcome to you.
