Agreed, dogs will eat and derive nutrition from lots of things (some not so
pleasant for us humans), but whole corn kernels don't do them a lot of
good, they just pass through the system, and dogs do need meat derived
nutrients (proteins, etc.) in order to remain healthy. Most dogs will beg
to differ too. Given a choice of meat and most anything else, most dogs
will take the meat first (not all; my Grandmother had a dog that liked
young peas better than anything else - strange dog). Of course cat
droppings may be a close contender for favorite food, but then that's meat
too - sort of. Lots of debates about needs of humans in relation to meat
derived nutrients too.
I can think of many animals besides cats and killer whales that eat only
other animals, but I won't go into listing them here. By the way, not just
killer whales, but pretty much all whales are carnivores, unless
carnivorous has to mean the animals eaten are over a certain size, or
hunted with violent action? However, baleen whales probably scrape up a
lot of other debris (including vegetable matter) in their feeding, and I'm
no expert, but they might get some nutritional value from it?
Well enough of that, we're getting way off topic.
Thanks Lynn
