The topic of "Grandmothers" was hinted at. I started thinking about my
Grandmother's flower beds. They always looked great (including the Iris -
which she never dug and divided). I'm not sure everything she used, but
she was a firm believer in manure (but it was always very old manure -
smelled like sweet dirt, not manure). She also dumped all the washings
from things like eggs, the leftovers after making butter, etc. out into the
flower beds. No commercial fertilizer, but well fed in a lot of ways.
