OT-BIO: Debby Nelson

Hello everyone,

I've just joined this list so I thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is Debby Nelson and I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. I am gardening
on a 1/4 acre lot. I have loved Iris for years but have fairly recently
discovered the extensive range of sizes and varieties available and am now
hooked.

My zone is 2a to 2b, although I have managed to successfully grow zone 3
plants and some 4's as well. We get terrific winds in this area, so growing
TB's worries me a bit because of their height. I did purchase 8 from Chuck
Chapman this year as a bit of an experiment, but put them all close to the
fence so I can tie them if necessary. They've rooted well already, so we'll
see how they do next year.

Another first for me will be attempting to grow Iris from seed. I allowed
Pumpkin Centre, Pastel Charm and Hazel's Pink to each set pods this year
(pollen parent unknown) so we'll see what I get.

I look forward to learning a lot from all of you.
