HIST: 1939 checklist and meta discussion

Hi all,

1) If we quote the 1939 Checklist, we need to quote
it as it is, and *then* if we wish, add comments!

It's really not that daunting -- frustrating at times
yes -- but I'm amazed at how much info she packed
in there.  Yeah, the color thing is an issue.  But
it's not meant to nail down color, but to put it in
classes.  

It's really an interesting book to browse through
and you'll find the neatest bits of iris trivia,
though to do that you need to just browse around.

2) What abbreviations are being discussed?
TWOI?  
F?
S?
B?
pbf?
UNK?
Noid? (though I find this usage less attractive than
UNK)

Maybe we should have a "sent to everyone on the list,
once a month, "here is basic info"" message (I do
this on the feral_cats group I write on a lot).  ALSO
it could remind folks that if something is confusing
or they want more info on something, they can SEARCH
the archived messages!

3) Also, please remind me -- who is complaining?
Is it that mythical Someone?
