I just crunched the numbers, and 30 inch rows with a 12 inch spacing would be 17,424 per acre.
On a more practical note, Mike indicated that they use a mechanical planter. Mechanical digger as well? That's a bunch of digging, which if you don't do yearly, degenerates very quickly into an acre sized clump.

rows?
