Scarlett,
There is a picture by Mike Lowe in Mahan's Book "Classic Irises" on p. 57. A
very good chapter on this iris that "lost it's name". Introduced in 1854 by
Louis Van Houtte's. It seems the expert do not agree on what it looks like.
There's a variation picture on p. 59.

Thanks a bunch.
A friend gave me this iris. He purchased it from the Farmers Market. I
took pictures to the 2006 convention where Historic experts identified it
as
Sans Souci. I have Honorabile. I didn't think the irises looked all that
similar. Honorabile looks like the pictures I found on the web. However,
I
couldn't find Sans Souci pictures on the web.
My Sans Souci has white standards with a hint of yellow and red-purple
falls
with gold beards. The falls have a spray next to the beards. Does that
sound like Sans Souci?
