Hello again. My brains sweated out while I was transplanting the 100 or so
(or so it seemed when the back of the truck was full) irises this weekend,
so I may be less than gramatically correct today. I went over Sat and dug
up 3 large areas from the rent house. (Dont get attatched to plants there,
they killed 4 yearling dogwood trees, 2 apple trees and most of the
perennials by not watering) I got about 3/4 of them in Sun and will do the
rest tonight.
My question is: some of the rhisomes, that went in last fall, bloomed this
spring, were HUGE! I mean like potato size. I have never seen such size or
shape, being used to the long, thick, bloated "cigar" shaped ones. Are
these a normal growth, or are they just bizzare like everything else here in
Bubbaville?
They are healthy, no rot, no borers, just round and huge.
I got Sharon McAllisters list of Arilbreds Sat, that kept me busy for the
evening trying to recover from the heat and humidy while digging. I still
kick myself for not knowing she was in my own town, growing IRISES like
CRAZY!!! I will one day make an appointment, next time I'm back (still have
a rent house there too). I wish I hadnt promised not to order any more
plants this year....
Still punchy from the heat, waiting and praying for rain...
