New Digest Mode for Iris-L

Hi, Tom! Just visited your website for the first time; later I'll take a
look at all those baby pictures!

Our server was down Wednesday night, and Andy at Computerland assured me
it would be up and running in the morning. When I went to get my e-mail
Thursday a.m. there was none! I thought, oh, no, I did something wrong,
my server needs a new login, or something. Since other people use the
computer during the day, I couldn't check the mail until later Thursday,
when there was still none! I talked to Andy again Thursday evening, and
he said he would send me a test e-mail to see if I got it. With his
message was only one from my son Eric's mailing list from Starfire, and
only one from Iris-L, a new Digest! What fooled me was that Eric nearly
always gets more than one from Starfire (which is not in digest mode),
and always in the morning, when I am able to use the computer in peace!

Anyway, I think I will like it, especially since, coincidentally, I
promised my local iris society newsletter person some excerpts from the
Iris-L for our newsletter. Now I can just print the whole thing out (on
thinner paper, natch) and send it to him, and he can pick out whatever
he likes! (that is okay, isn't it?) The former single entries are in
their folder, listed by subject and date singly, but you do that on the
first page of each Digest, so that works too. I can just flag whatever
digest(s) have what I want to go back to quick.

I haven't quite figured out how people reply to other people's mail,
tho. Do they push Reply To the whole thing, and then erase the parts
they don't want to answer to? Or do they type in what was said and
somehow it comes out in italics? Everyone IS receiving it in Digest
mode, right? Help! This newbie is confused!

Thanks, Tom for your help! (and your daughter is adorable!)

Barb Johnson, 30 miles NW of Springfield, MO, where it's foggy Sunday
a.m.. I just planted a few TB's last night (from the local sale) that
have been in my humid (but not wet) basement for a month. No, they
aren't moldy; as a matter of fact, they are growing new yellow roots,
and one has a new sprout forming! So I thought I'd better get them in
quick. Cheers!
