When I see lists of rebloomers like that of Schreiners I tend to get
a bit testy. The disclaimer is not enough. For a list of rebloomers
that are dependable IN YOUR AREA you should not look at that list
unless you are in the same zone as Schreiners or farther south. Find
somebody in your zone who is knowledgeable and look to them. I have
grown and/or grow a large number of those iris on the Schreiner list.
None of them has ever shown the slightest sign of reblooming here in
Zone 4. Not until I got a list from Dr. Garland Bare, Lincoln, NE,
who spoke to our club a couple years ago, did I have a list of
rebloomers which had been reported as blooming in this zone. In my
view, based on my experience, general lists are of little value,
indeed, they may just lead you to expect what will never happen.
Arnold Koekkoek in NW Iowa, where winters are cold and heavy freezes
often come too early to allow much rebloom of most "rebloomers."
