Welcome Julie,
Time flies when you are having fun! I loaded an archive Robins floppy
(didn't know if it would read--9 years old!) and there you were, in a snail
mail Robin!
When reading the old Robin I was struck that the iris all were mentioning
with late summer rebloom nearly a decade ago are mostly the same ones being
talked about today! I am starting to suspect that early season rebloom is
tied in with older flower form/older rebloomers. Many hybridizers are now
crossing modern form rebloomers with hyper-modern once-bloomers and winding
up with plants that do rebloom but very late in the season.
Jay Hudson had a mind boggling list of iris in bloom in his California
garden and the recent rebloomers are all November and December rebloomers
here (Virginia). The iris trade could certainly use some cold weather area
hybridizers working for early rebloom. I see in your introductory posting
you are hybridizing. Are you working for rebloomers? Early blooming ones
even!? I could sure use some new faces in my summer iris patch but when I
buy the new things all I get are Indian Summer/Thanksgiving bloom!
Cheers,
