A noticable number of Subscribers to IRIS-L are utilizing the HIPS DataBank to
obtain souces for Historic Irises. Great --- It's good to have another source
for irises -- no matter the source.... Right ?
However, I'm still receiving an incredible number of requests via IRIS-L to
aid those seeking older varieties... . So --- I wish to inform those who are
using my name as a retrieval source for Historic Irises --- that, effective
AUG 1, 1996, I am no longer involved with servicing the HIPS DataBank...
The HIPS DataBank has now been in operation for over 7 years. The list
currently has over 3,400 varieties including 1,500+ 'rare' varieties which , in
the past, have been next to impossible to locate. The DataBank is primarily
used for seeking sources for older irises (pre- 1965).. It is Global and is
updated weekly.
This is a service provided by the Historic Iris Preservation Society - a
Section of AIS... I have been compiling and maintaining this list since it's
inception in 1989. It has been a rewarding experience. - But - things do
change in ones life. ---- especially ones age...
If you do need additional info (other than sources) relative to the operation of
listing - give me a 'buzz'..
THANX !
