Japanese Iris & Flooding

FWIW, I can't resist sharing this tale of a non-irisarian's success with
Japanese iris in Oklahoma:

They were planted in the early 60s, in the low end of a bed next to the drain
hole in the fence, a place that floods with every rain. (Variety unknown, a
house-warming gift.) They have been thinned from time to time, in conformance
with the "passalong" philosophy, but as far as I know they have never been dug
and replanted.

Just a report. NOT a recommendation. But it does seem to support the flooding
theory.
