This year we have a double! Tied for the  J. A. Payne Medal were:

Edge of Frost (Dienstbach 1988), a beautiful deep violet with a precisely
penciled white rim and;
Kalamazoo (A. Hazzard by Bauer-Coble 1989), blue violet standards edged
white; white falls centered blue violet and lovely dark purple stylearms.
