I would expect that "dirty-handed gardeners" who grow a lot of iris
recent enough to be eligible for awards are likely to know as many
hybridizers as judges do. Maybe even as likely to vote based on catalog
pictures.
Gerry, a judge who realizes that many non-judges
know a lot more about irises than I do.
