I liked your color combination. On a larger scale I've seen that this spring 
with a giant red beech back of a pink dogwood.

Don, my favorite combination of colors is not on your list.  I once had
VANITY planted next to GARNET SPORT, and found the pink/maroon red
combination dramatic and very beautiful.  At the convention in Atlanta a
couple of years ago one garden had masses of a pink iris planted with
SCHORTMAN'S GARNET RUFFLES, and the pink/maroon contrast again gained many
ooh's and ahh's.  Any deep maroon and nice clear pink will do...and the
bigger the clumps and masses the more dramatic the effect.  Clarence Mahan in
