I agree with you.  The yellow pre-emerge herbicides do a good job with normal
weed control, for example, does an excellent job with grass control and
overall good control with broadleaf weeds, but occassionally find a diffult
one or two.  Thru experience you can learn to adjust rates up or down to
handle specific weed problems without creating problems with the desired
plant(s).
